I have deleted my LinkedIn Account after a long time of inactivity with occasionally logging in to “connect” with somebody.

edit: the date isn’t happening anymore. he texted me asking if we could change the venue as he realized he can’t really afford that restaurant at the moment (???, why was this realization so last minute) & i told him no worries i can pay for everything. he told me no way i could ever let a girl pay, it’s not fair to the girl and also “emasculating” to him. hate that attitude. called it off and cut contact. thank u, next.

BACK IN MY DAY (jk my day is ongoing 😜), many popular sites were called “e/n” sites. This was like before blogs, before Google, etc. Back then, the web wasn’t very feature-rich, but it was “loud.” Contrast that with now: there are more sites than ever and wayyyyyyy more users than in the late 90s, but the www is very quiet and isolated (or isolating? I’m not sure how to phrase it).

Out of curiosity, how much YOU time do you get in a day/week? Doesn’t have to be alone time but time doing the things you want to do and not having to concern yourself with responsibilities in the moment. Do you forfeit sleep to achieve this you time? Are you a victim of revenge bedtime procrastination?

Just curious, as I might purchase one for health tracking.

I’d trade my car repair skill for house repair, and my musical ability for math ability. Both of those are far more useful in life. Maybe also trade my computer ability for welding or woodworking.

Im definitely on the side that over using AI and using it commercially seems to be bad. On the other hand, it seems like a tech that has huge potential upsides. I’m not sure we can achieve a post scarcity society with all labor being done by humans. This is where I see AI becoming a massive tool. Assuming we can pair it with mechanical means of work, not strictly digital. I know it’s a touchy subject but I want to hear your opinion. As always, if you’re just going to tell me to read more, recommend literature.

In Dublin there was a monument locally called “The Floozie in the Jacuzzi” ("floozie” is someone promiscuous) which apparently the artist quite liked. It got moved off the main thoroughfare at some point.

It’s been 7 days, I tried to call, contact and visit unions of the party. Some of them said that they will recontact with me in call but the most of them are closed for sure. It’s unbelievable to find one open union. After endless efforts with my organization pursue, I guess they don’t really care about that.

I’m a regular guy, I’m about 23 years old, I work at a job with a flexible schedule, the job is more or less acceptable, although sometimes it’s very annoying because of the extra repairs. Lately, I’ve been really wanting to go to festivals with cosplayers and stuff, but time is tight, and because of AI and data centers, there is even less time than there could be. And I never even went on a date, I constantly postponed everything for later, and now it seems to me that everything is lost.

Don’t get me wrong, I’m all for privacy. But between setting up the birthdate when creating my children’s local account on their computers, and having to send a copy of their ID to every platform under the sun, I’d easily chose the former.

I experience Lemmy as a reflection of many of the problems in the world; there seems to be little effort to understand and respect different viewpoints. Instead of being curious about opinions one disagrees with, the community often feels almost aggressive. People end up in their own trenches. What about trying to be more open and curious about our differences instead?

Maybe I’m just too picky, but if the actor isn’t “my type” or I’m not attracted to him, I won’t enjoy the video. I have favorite actors (Jmac, Tommy Pistol, Ken Matsumoto, Charles Dera, Tyler Nixon, etc.), and a lot of the time I specifically look for videos with them instead of something new or random.

I feel like bears is the most obvious answer. In this scenario it would have started thousands of years ago. We’d have dozens/hundreds of breeds with different shapes,sizes and characteristics. What do you think would be the most interesting/cool?

Last night I had a hookup for the first time. I told the guy I wanted him to use a condom, which offended him because he was like, “Why do I need to use one if you already have an IUD? Do you think I’m some STD-ridden guy?” I told him I just don’t know him that well. Either way it was fine in the end, he put it on and it was a fine night. Now I’m thinking, was I being a pushover?
